DWI Fatality Simulation Provides Important Lesson Before Prom

On Friday, May 18th Keshequa Juniors and Seniors were treated to a realistic simulation of a DWI related accident with a fatality.  Students arrived at Rymer Athletic field to a scene of a two car MVA with a head on collision and ejection.  The accident was toned out over local dispatch and our local first responders  were quick to the scene.  Nunda Fire Department, Ambulance, and PD arrived to demonstrate the process of rescuing victims and securing the scene and were supported by the Cornell Cooperative Extension, Livingston County Sheriff's Department and Coroner, and even the medivac LifeNet helicopter from Hornell.  Two 'victims' had to be extracted from vehicles, putting the Hurst tool skills of Nunda FD on display.  All in all it was a healthy reminder about the importance of making positive choices prior to the prom which was held on Saturday evening, May 19th, at Vasile's in Portagevile.  The school greatly appreciates all the first responders in our community, as well as the support of the greater community at large as we continue to try and bring these opportunities to our students.
