Dear KCS 7-12 Students and Families,

I hope this letter finds you safe and taking care of yourself, physically, mentally, and emotionally.   As our district continues to work our way through this unprecedented time, we ask for your continued patience and flexibility.   I am sure that families have questions and concerns.  Let me share what we know.

Many of our teachers have been working to prepare materials that will be shared with students to provide some continued opportunities for learning while school is closed.  Teachers will be providing opportunities for students to review material and to practice skills learned.  The material provided will not contain any new content.  Beginning next Monday (or sooner), students will hear from teachers with the expectation that they will do the best they can on materials provided and reach out when they need assistance.

We understand that this situation can be stressful and concerning.  It is the District’s sincere hope that by offering a variety of continued learning opportunities it will relieve stress, provide a sense of normalcy and maintain connection to school for our students.  At the same time, we do not want to overburden families with unreasonable expectations.  The social and emotional health and well-being of our students, as well as their physical health, is our most important priority at this time.

Therefore, we have established a schedule for departments to reach out as follows:

  • Mondays- ELA and LOTE Department
  • Tuesdays-Math and Science Department
  • Wednesday-Social Studies Department
  • Thursday-Special Areas Department
  • Friday-SPED, Counselors and Staff

The District is providing breakfast and lunch to any pre-school and school-age child Monday through Friday.  If you are interested in this service, please contact the District Office.

Internet Service

Much of the work and communication will be via email and internet services.  The District is aware that some families are not able to access the internet at home and we are working on establishing “hot spots” for students to be able to access.  Once we have these established, it will be communicated to families.

Please reach out if you have any concerns or questions.

With K Pride,

Karen Bennett
