The 6th graders in Miss. Neuโs Social Studies class are currently studying Ancient Civilizations, with a recent focus on Ancient Egypt. As part of their learning, students explored the Egyptiansโ unique writing system- hieroglyphics.
After learning how symbols were used to communicate and record information, students had the opportunity to write their own names using hieroglyphs. This hands-on activity helped them connect with the culture, creativity, and innovation of this fascinating ancient civilization!

Science meets Social Studies: Brewing a Revolution ๐บ๐ธ๐งช
Students in Mrs. Jinesโ Social Studies class recently completed a hands-on science experiment to help them better understand how British colonists felt as King George III continued to tax them. As they reviewed the major acts imposed on the colonies- students observed changes in a science flask. The liquid in the flask began clear. With each new act, a drop of food coloring was added, causing the liquid to become darker and murkier. This symbolized the growing frustration and anger felt by the colonists over time.
Eventually, the liquid turned nearly black, representing how overwhelming the situation had become. To conclude the experiment, baking soda was added, causing the mixture to eruptโsymbolizing the start of the American Revolution.
