Keshequa Middle School

Today, our Middle School and High School students got to have some extra fun during our Wellness Day! We kicked things off with an assembly about mental health and well-being. Then, students broke into groups and rotated through a variety of fun activities: Fishing, Kickball, Capture the Flag, Yoga, and even got to enjoy bounce houses- just to name a few! On top of all the excitement, we had some delicious snacks like make-your-own pizza bagels, nachos, and protein bites. A huge thank you to everyone who made this day special.

🇺🇸✨ Honoring Our Heroes ✉️❤️ After a recent visit by USMC Veteran and Honor Flight recipient Ed James, our Keshequa students were inspired to give back in a meaningful way. We are incredibly proud to announce that 235 heartfelt letters, written by our students, are being delivered today for veterans preparing for an Honor Flight out of Rochester this weekend. Our students' words will serve as a warm send-off and a heartfelt thank you for their service.

The 2024-2025 Proposed Budget has been APPROVED! We also would like to congratulate Alicia M. Strain on being elected to serve on our Board of Education. As the 2023-2024 School Year begins to wrap up, we are excited to start planning for the 2024-2025 academic year! Thank you to all who supported and participated in the budget vote process!

Yesterday, RG&E paid a special visit to our school to chat with some of our students interested in pursuing a career as a lineman! 💡 The group shared insights into their job, the educational path needed, and even gave our students a firsthand look at one of their impressive trucks! We want to thank RG&E for their insights and for sparking our students' curiosity about career possibilities!

We want to give a huge thank you to Ed James, a true American hero and USMC Veteran who served in Vietnam, for joining us today to talk about the Honor Flight Program! Ed, himself an Honor Flight recipient, shared his inspiring journey alongside his daughter Mrs. Vogler. Their firsthand account of the program is getting our students ready to write letters to the veterans who will be taking an Honor Flight later this month!

🌟 Empowering our students is at the heart of everything we do! 🌟 We believe that involving our students in decision-making processes is crucial, which is why today, with the guidance of our incredible PBIS Team, we met with our 5th through 8th grade students and got their ideas on what should be included in a new code of conduct for our middle school. Our incredible students contributed their thoughts on what it means to be safe, responsible, and respectful in our school environment!

May 24: There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, May 24- as the Board of Education has approved a "Give Back Day," giving our staff and students an extra day off before the Memorial Day weekend

Our drama club is gearing up for two spectacular shows of The Little Mermaid, but that's not all- mark your calendars for our Cast Meet and Greet on Wednesday, March 20th from 6-8pm! Our KPTSA is excited to announce they will be holding a roller skating party for our 5th and 6th grade students! The party will be held on April 15, from 3-5pm with permission slips going home with students next week! Parents you can also roller skate for an additional $6, we just ask that no outside skates be brought to the party- we will supply them for you!

A MAJOR congratulations to 17, yes 17, Keshequa students who have been named 2024 Livingston County Teen Recognition Award Winners! Winners are chosen as teens that have had a positive influence on their community through their service, volunteering, or overall good deeds! Great job everyone!

Last week was all about exploring different career paths! Some of our middle schoolers were able to dive into the world of being a criminal investigator, thanks to Officer Merrick from the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, during our Worky Wednesday discussion. Meanwhile, some of our sophomores embarked on an insightful journey visiting and learning about what career trainings are available at Boces!

On Saturday, the Keshequa CSD had the incredible honor of hosting the 2024 All County Music Festival 1! The gym was buzzing as hundreds of students, from 13 different districts, showed off their musical talents to a packed audience. A huge thank you to everyone that came out to show their support, and for everyone that made this event possible!

On Saturday, January 20, the Keshequa Robotics Team competed in the First Lego League tournament in Mt. Morris. They successfully completed many tasks using engineering design and computer programming skills. Congratulations to Jacoby, Abijah, and Nick. Good Work!
