The 6th graders in Miss. Neu’s Social Studies class are currently studying Ancient Civilizations, with a recent focus on Ancient Egypt. As part of their learning, students explored the Egyptians’ unique writing system- hieroglyphics.
After learning how symbols were used to communicate and record information, students had the opportunity to write their own names using hieroglyphs. This hands-on activity helped them connect with the culture, creativity, and innovation of this fascinating ancient civilization!

Science meets Social Studies: Brewing a Revolution 🇺🇸🧪
Students in Mrs. Jines’ Social Studies class recently completed a hands-on science experiment to help them better understand how British colonists felt as King George III continued to tax them. As they reviewed the major acts imposed on the colonies- students observed changes in a science flask. The liquid in the flask began clear. With each new act, a drop of food coloring was added, causing the liquid to become darker and murkier. This symbolized the growing frustration and anger felt by the colonists over time.
Eventually, the liquid turned nearly black, representing how overwhelming the situation had become. To conclude the experiment, baking soda was added, causing the mixture to erupt—symbolizing the start of the American Revolution.

💚🎄 A certain someone heard it was Grinch Day today and decided to make a surprise visit to our Elementary School! That’s right- the Grinch stopped by to say hello… and cause a little mischief, of course!
We hope his visit brought lots of smiles (and maybe a few giggles) to our students’ faces- it definitely added some extra fun to the day!

📚 Hooked on Books! 📚
Over the past few days, our classrooms have been taking part in Hooked on Books. Each day, a different teacher drops everything so our students can enjoy 20 uninterrupted minutes of reading. It’s been a great way to slow down, spark imagination, and share our love of books!
